About Psyche
I am a social science researcher with ambivalent feelings about the unfashionable qualities of the academic profession to which I belong. I am also driven to solve this self-imposed riddle: how does a woman who's always on a budget satisfy her wide ranging tastes?

The Purchase Decision
Scenario. I stop by the mall to make a long overdue return. While there, I might as well visit a few stores, right? In Macy’s, I encounter these standout sandals—a glossy leather slingback. Ok. So, I am not shopping for shoes. But, these are not ordinary shoes. The gladiator inspired sandal has a tri color—luggage, tan, and vanilla—strappy vamp with geometric polished metal accents and studs at the center. And, they’re on sale.
To buy or not to buy? The decision to purchase always rests on a number of things, one being whether I can imagine at least three outfits with the shoes. That’s easy.
But, wait a minute. I already have the Tahari d’Orsay pumps, which can easily blend into the same looks. The new shoes are new, but they don't necessarily bring any added value. So, do I need them?
Decision: Not to buy (well, not to keep)

Look Transformation
Ok, ok. I love the super soft texture and hand-tacked honeycomb detail at the bodice of this dress. The empire waist sweater dress is very sweet. But, sometimes you want to be a little less sweet, and a little sassier. To jazz up the dress, giraffe print mary jane pumps are added.
These mary jane style peep-toe pumps are timeless and elegant. Its giraffe print is naturally beautiful. Its 4 ¼” platform heel is both sexy and functional—adding well-needed height. I was surprised to find this pair on sale at 6pm for $19.99*! What a great steal on a shoe that will complement many looks.
The dress is then belted with a black leather belt to cinch the waist and break up the red. Et voila!
